Zum Ende der E3 philosophiert Engine-Guru John Carmack über die Marschrichtung des nächsten Quake-Titels. Nach drei Strogg-Spielen (2, 4, ET: QW) wird bei id Software die Thematik des Ur-Quakes favorisiert:
Die Zeichen stehen also auf Reboot/Retelling, ähnlich wie damals bei Doom³. Ein Quake 1 in heutiger Technik wäre auf jeden Fall Klasse."Nothing is scheduled here, people are not building this," Carmack said.
"We went from the Quake 2 and the Quake 4 Strogg universe. We are at least tossing around the possibilities of going back to the bizarre, mixed up Cthulhu-ish Quake 1 world and rebooting that direction.
"We think that would be a more interesting direction than doing more Strogg stuff after Quake 4.
Was da letztendlich kommen mag, es ist noch lange hin: Nach Rage (zuletzt verschoben auf den 4. und 7. Oktober) kommt Doom 4 und ein Rage 2 steht auch schon fest auf der Agenda.
