Amazon übernimmt James Bond

Mit Übernahme der MGM Studios vor drei Jahren erhielt Amazon bereits die Vertriebsrechte aller James-Bond-Filme. Die eigentlichen Eigentumsrechte und damit auch die kreative Kontrolle hingegen verblieb weiterhin bei Danjaq bzw. EON Productions. Diese Firmen wurden 1961 von Albert R. Broccoli und Harry Saltzman gegründet und später von Barbara Broccoli und Michael G. Wilson fortgeführt. Mehr als 60 Jahre (!!!) lang hat sich der Familienbetrieb um die Marke James Bond behutsam gekümmert und alle Jahre wieder einen Kinofilm produziert.
Damit ist es ab heute vorbei. Wilson sagt:

With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects. Therefore, Barbara and I agree, it is time for our trusted partner, Amazon MGM Studios, to lead James Bond into the future

Und Broccoli ergänzt:

With the conclusion of No Time to Die and Michael retiring from the films, I feel it is time to focus on my other projects

Dies ist nicht nur das Ende einer Ära, sondern auch ein Bruch mit dem Umgang von 007 als Marke insgesamt. Börsen-orientiertes Riesenunternehmen gegen kleine Privatfirma. Nun können theoretisch auch Serien, Spin-offs oder sonst was für Sachen jenseits des Kinos entstehen, denn Amazon bekommt die volle Kontrolle über das Franchise. Man behält zwar noch Miteigentumsrechte, aber das dürfte nur pro forma sein.
Es lässt auch tief blicken, dass Broccoli im Vorfeld die Verantwortlichen bei Amazon als Idioten bezeichnet hatte. Warum nun die Kehrtwende? Ich verstehe es nicht und fürchte weitreichende -negative- Folgen für Bonds Zukunft.
