Als John Carmack Oculus VR in 2019 verlassen hatte, wollte er sich dem Thema KI widmen. Nun ist es offiziell, denn per Twitter informiert er über die Gründung von Keen Technologies:
AGI steht dabei für Artificial General Intelligence, also künstliche allgemeine Intelligenz. Das dürfte quasi KI nur next level sein, denn bisher sind KIs meist auf spezielle Problemstellungen trainiert und darauf zugeschnitten, während es bei KAIs eher um menschliche Fähigkeiten bzw. adaptives Verhalten geht.Keen Technologies, my new AGI company, has raised a $20M round, led by @natfriedman and @danielgross, with @patrickc, @tobi, @sequoia, @CapitalFactory, and Jim Keller participating.
This is explicitly a focusing effort for me. I could write a $20M check myself, but knowing that other people's money is on the line engenders a greater sense of discipline and determination. I had talked about that as a possibility for a while, and I am glad Nat pushed me on it.
Der Firmenname dürfte auch kein Zufall sein, schließlich gehört Commander Keen zu den Erstlingswerken von id Software.
