The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of. Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.
We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. Mit "Perpetual Testing Initiative" kommt nach "Peer Review" der zweite DLC zu Portal 2 am 8. Mai. Dieser besteht quasi nur aus dem schon länger angekündigten Editor, um eigene Puzzle-Kammern zu erschaffen. Diese können dann direkt in den Steam Workshop hochgeladen werden:
Von dort aus können sich die Spieler die dann erstellte Kammer herunterladen. Diese wird danach automatisch installiert und kann beim nächsten Start von Portal 2 gespielt werden. Außerdem können die Kammern bewertet und kommentiert, sowie nach verschiedenen Kategorien sortiert werden. So lassen sich nicht nur neue Puzzles für den Singleplayer-Modus erstellen, sondern auch für den Koop-Part. Wie groß der DLC wird ist indes noch unbekannt. Weitere Informationen will Valve aber in den nächsten Tagen veröffentlichen. Wie schon Peer Review ist auch Portal 2: Perpetual Testing Initiative komplett kostenfrei und wird über Steam als automatisches Update heruntergeladen.

Seit Anfang des Jahres hat GSC Game World ohne Bezahlung weiterhin an S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 gearbeitet in der Hoffnung, einen neuen Investor zu finden. Aufgrund rechtlicher Probleme mit dem Markeninhaber war aber keine Einigung möglich und dies ist nun das endgültige Aus.

The entire team that was working on Stalker is now working on a new project called Survarium. We are so grateful for the support over the years and despite our best efforts we have to move on from Stalker which is as hard for us as it is for you. Bethesda Softworks, der Publisher von Prey 2, gibt bekannt, dass das Spiel nicht mehr 2012 erscheinen wird:
Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.
So weit, so gut - unschöner sind Gerüchte, dass Human Head Studios als Entwickler abgezogen wurde und statt dessen mit einer Fortsetzung von Rune weitermachen...

Yet most mainstream media covers the industry the same way it treats adult dodge ball leagues and cat fashion shows (both noble ventures, but neither of them multi-billion dollar industries). And the only time you hear legislators discuss video games is when some politician decries them as the death knell for all things righteous in the world (hint: they're not). Now, after years of being ignored and relegated to steerage, game-players have voted to send a message to Electronic Arts and the gaming business as a whole: Stop treating your loyal customers like crap.

Genau so werden als fehlerhaft gemeldete Errungenschaften rausgerechnet. Werbung kommt hier genau so wenig vor wie nervige "Sign in through Steam"-Pflichtlogins. Der Ex-Director von Doom 4 hat seinem Portfolio mindestens 26 Konzepte und Artworks von Doom 4 hinzugefügt. Diese wurden bereits am 15.01.2012 von einer koreanischen Seite geleakt mit folgenden (übersetzen) Kommentar:
Not official. It's a portfolio uploaded piece-by-piece by the ex-director.
The title being used is "Doom," but it could change, don't know what's official and what could be changed later on.
The atmosphere is very similar to Rage, so the fear is that the graphics will raise some problems later on.
Doom's background was always space, but this time, it appears to be on Earth.
PC and XBOX360, PS3 are being targeted, unlike Rage it'll be locked at 30 fps (PC version is perhaps 60 frames?)
The plan is to have lots of monsters from past Doom games appear in the game.
Das wurde heute bei 4chan unter /v/ aufgeschnappt und mit dem Gerücht verbreitet, dass Doom 4 (wieder) eingestellt worden sei. Dies ist aber nicht wahr, denn Jim Reilly von Game Informer twitterte das Dementi:
Bethesda says Doom 4 is not canceled.
Was bleibt sind also allererste, vielleicht schon längst veraltete, Eindrücke von Doom 4. Wichtigste Erkenntnis: Doom4 wird wohl eine Art Doom 2 Remake und spielt auf der Erde. Alle Bilder sind ab sofort in der Doom 4-Sektion zu bestaunen!
Nachtrag: Inzwischen sind es über 170 (gerenderte) Bilder und animierte Flashdateien geworden! Das erinnert schon an den Quake 4-Bilderleak von 2004. Alles wie gewohnt in der Doom 4-Sektion einsehbar!

Nur der "Nörgelei wie ein Kleinkind" seitens Remedy gegenüber Microsoft ist es zu verdanken, dass Alan Wake eine PC Fassung bekommen hat. So beschreibt es Oskari Hakkinen, Kopf der Franchise-Entwicklung, die Jahre nach dem Xbox-360-Release im Mai 2010, bis es schließlich vor sieben Monaten das OK für die PC Umsetzung gab.
"We were like a nagging little kid," Hakkinen explained. "Time is a factor, and having a good relationship with Microsoft. And also [inbound XBLA exclusive] American Nightmare coming out obviously extended that relationship with them.
"It was just a number of discussions with the right people, and then them saying, 'Yeah, we see you want to do that. We see it's important to you. We can let that happen there.'"
He added: "Time has definitely been a factor on making it happen. Also it was the relationship and seeing we're doing more stuff with them as well."
Gleichzeitig macht er die definitive Absage einer Fassung für die PlayStation 3.

Endlich mal was zum aktuellen Status des Add-ons zu SpellForce 2 gefunden: Nach der (verdienten) Pleite von JoWooD hat Nordic Games das Franchise übernommen und ist derzeit intensiv damit beschäftigt, den "Krumpfel-Code der Inder zu bereinigen und zu fixen". Faith in Destiny wurde bisweilen vom indischen Studio Trine entwickelt und verbuggt ist wohl noch die harmloseste Bezeichnung. Neu ist auch die Nutzung von Steam; ob es auch Errungenschaften geben wird, ist noch unklar. Auch die Engine soll aufgebohrt werden:
An den Grafik Assets wird natürlich auch gearbeitet. Wir sind uns schon bewusst, dass es eine alte Game Engine ist - aber man kann durchaus was machen.
Als Veröffentlichung peilt man nun Mitte 2012 an. Diverse Webshops nennen bereits den 5. Mai als Datum.

Erst gab es den Teaser für den Trailer, der diesen für den 16.02. ankündigte. Dann gab es heute einen verfrühten Leak und das Releasedatum war damit auch aus dem Sack: Am 6. September 2012 kommt Far Cry 3 raus! In Folge dessen hat Ubisoft dann den Trailer "Gestrandet" ganz offiziell schon heute veröffentlicht: Das Dubstep-Stück stammt übrigens von Noisia und heißt "Machine Gun (16 Bit Remix)".

Morgen gibt es sowas wie einen zweiten AdActaDay, d.h. weltweit finden Demonstrationen gegen ACTA statt. Warum sollte man dagegen protestieren? Das Video erklärt es: Die Sache ist also ziemlich ernst, da die EU bereits ACTA unterschrieben hat. Noch ist es aber nicht zu spät. I’ve read and fed into the script now on many, many occasions, and I can tell you that there is no love interest in this game. She is trying to survive. She is busy. Gründe für den Projektstopp und Fortgang wurden weiterhin nicht genannt. Nachtrag: Offenbar gibt es finanzielle Probleme, denn GSC sucht derzeit einen Geldgeber. Oleg Yavorsky sagte dazu:
