The Third World War breaks out and the Soviets are losing at the end again.
Trivia:
- The sequel to RA1 was released October 26, 2000.
- Brett Sperry himself had the idea to task Skaggs with the development of RA2:
So, with Skaggs on board at Virgin, Sperry had an idea in mid-1999: Why not ask the group in Irvine to work on a sequel to Red Alert? Development resources were stretched thin at Westwood's Las Vegas headquarters, but Sperry and his partner, Louis Castle, thought Skaggs would be up to the task of doing a new C&C. "We knew they were a solid team in Irvine and eager to work on something more substantial than what they had been doing for Virgin," remembers Castle. So a phone call was made: "Mark, what do you think of doing Red Alert 2?" asked Sperry.
- Joseph B. Hewitt IV considers RA2 still as a true C&C in comparison with Generals, although it was not made by Westwood from Las Vegas:
Red Alert 2 was done by Westwood Pacific which was the old Virgin Games office. However, that being said, Brett and Adam did a whole lot of work on that game. If you really want to define Westwood C&C vs. Not Westwood C&C you should draw the line between Red Alert 2 and Generals.
But no, I didn't do any specific work on RA II except they used a slightly modified (bigger / closer in) version of my isometric tile set system. - The Eiffel Tower in the final game has a differing name and only three legs due to copyright.
- Funny: A "Tesla Poker" storyboard from artist Thomas M. Baxa is featured on his site.
- In the track "Destroy" a voice says at the beginning in French
Détruire tout, c'est une obligation
, in English "Destroy everything, it is an obligation". - There was also an old logo; ever seen that? Here it is:
- Ever wondered why the Soviets no longer had any MiG's? Such a war costs money and after the Second World War Russia happend to be flat broke and actually continued to be. That's why the decision was made for Kirovs (zeppelins), which are not that costly to manufacture compared to the MiG's.
- Tanya was at the age of 40 to 45.
- Pray again – here is the RA2's Prayer:
RA2 unser,
das du liegst auf unseren Platten,
geheiligt werden deine Entwickler,
dein Patch komme
deine KI verliere
in Ewigkeit
