Trivia:
- After the release in 2006 Ritual Entertainment was acquired and closed down by MumboJumbo, so that no more episodes would follow.
- SiN Episodes is released as a series of episodic games, the first episode is "Emergence" and at least five more should follow.
- The logo:
- SiN Episodes continues the SiN 1 add-on "Wages of Sin". Back again are Elexis and JC as well as the new entrant Jessica Cannon.
- SiN Episodes utilizes the Source engine used by Half-Life².
- SiN Episodes is distributed by Valve's Steam, so that Ritual stays independent from any publisher. The main reason being is the fact that no publisher showed interest in SiN 2:
A while back Ritual Entertainment revealed that it had been (and maybe still is) working on a sequel to its PC first-person shooter Sin. Simply called Sin II, the follow-up was, according to the developer, being built on a next-generation engine beyond Quake 3, and it even had a demo up and running to tout the game to prospective publishers. Unfortunately, publishers showed little interest in the title.
Such setbacks haven't lead to Ritual chucking Sin II into the recycle bin, however. Indeed, the developer has commented that it hopes that the game will see the light of day in the future. But nothing is definite.
Perhaps as a pre-Christmas gift to fans of the original Sin (boom-boom), the developer has released two screenshots from the title on official Ritual news site Ritualistic.com - for your convenience, the shots are also on this very page. The images don't exactly give much away as they're simply pics of character models John Blade and Elexis Sinclaire, but you can always ponder what might possibly be. - The original SiN 2 was called Reborn and run on the engine from Doom 3. Said prototype is shown during 3D Realms / Slipgate Tour and un-released Prototypes.
