Generals 2 eingestellt, C&C wird free-to-play C&C

Überaschung zur gamescom: C+C Generals 2 wurde eingestampft und dient als Nährboden für ein allgemeines C&C als free-to-play Titel. Einen Singleplayer wird es deswegen zum Start nicht geben:

What happens to Generals 2?
The Generals 2 universe will be the first of many free offerings that we will deliver with Command & Conquer. The content that we have already created will be part of this new free-to-play experience.

Will there be a traditional single player campaign?
Not at launch. We are currently focused on building a fun, high quality RTS experience that we want to get in your hands on as soon as possible. From there, we will continuously evaluate additional content based on a variety of player feedback methods.

Später sollen auch Inhalte mit Tiberium und Alarmstufe Rot folgen.

A chance to create a supported platform for Command & Conquer that will be influenced by how you guys are playing it and what youre asking for. It is also planed to revisit the Red Alert and Tiberium universe in the future.

Ironischerweise sind die Generals-Fans davon alles andere als begeistert. Zumindest ein ordentlicher Schlag ins Gesicht aller Vorbesteller. Vielleicht schweisst das ja die Community wieder zusammen und man kann EA gemeinsam hassen wie damals zur Vernichtung von Westwood. :rolleyes:
